Further explanation on the photo below...
A healthy set of vocal folds does not look like mine did in these photos below. As you can see, there is a bump on the left side (which is actually my right vocal fold— the picture is flipped because of the way the camera looks in). The color of the actual vocal folds is of no concern. They look different in the pictures because there is a strobe light hitting them and the stills are taken...
